Licensing and Attribution

License Types

Photos in the ISRS Asset Library are available under various licenses as indicated on each image. The license type is displayed on every photo card and in the full detail view. Common license types include:

• CC-BY 4.0 - Free to use with attribution. Commercial and non-commercial use permitted.
• CC-BY-NC 4.0 - Free for non-commercial use with attribution.
• CC-BY-SA 4.0 - Free to use with attribution; derivative works must use the same license.
• All Rights Reserved - Contact ISRS for permission before any use.

CC-BY Attribution Format

When using Creative Commons licensed images, please use the following attribution format:

[Photo caption/description]. Photo by [Photographer Name]. Licensed under [License Type] via ISRS Asset Library (shellfish-society.org/assets.html).

Suggested Citation

For academic publications, use the suggested citation provided in each photo's detail view. A typical citation follows this format:

[Photographer Name] ([Year]). [Caption]. International Shellfish Restoration Society Asset Library. Retrieved from shellfish-society.org/assets.html.

Commercial Use

Photos marked "All Rights Reserved" require a signed licensing agreement for any use. Photos under CC-BY licenses may be used commercially with proper attribution. For bulk licensing, custom resolutions, or questions about specific use cases, please contact us.
